Monroe  is officially a part of the Detroit Ann Arbor Flint CSA, and sometimes referred to as an extension of Toledo’s Metro area. The county is named after the famous American President James Monroe. The total area of the county consists of 680.03 square miles, which comprises of 551.10 square miles of land and 128.93 square miles of water. As per 2010 census the total population of the country was 152,021 persons, and the average population density was 277 persons per square miles.

It started imparting education in 1967, and provides recognized bachelors degree programs offered by leading universities. Other higher education institutes include the Michigan College of Beauty.

Transport

Transport is never an issue in Monroe. Popular highways like the I-75, I-275, US 23, US 24, US 223, M-50, M-125 exist within or along Monroe. Travel to Detroit, Toledo and South Florida is very comfortable due to these highways.
